Thank you for your interest in interning at the Brookings Institution. Current internship opportunities are listed below and applications are accepted for posted internships. Please be sure to review the Eligibility and Application Requirements as well as the Internship Program Schedule before applying.  Internships are very competitive and you will be notified via email or phone if you are being considered for an internship.

Eligibility and Application Requirements:

 

To be eligible for an internship with Brookings, students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university, or be a recent college graduate. International students who are legally able to intern or work in the United States without sponsorship from Brookings are eligible to apply. When applying for an internship, you must submit:

  1. A resume and a cover letter 
  2. A copy of undergraduate/Graduate official or unofficial transcripts
  3. Students applying for an academic credit internship must be eligible to receive academic credit and able to provide documentation from their school. 

Candidates selected as finalists will be asked to submit writing samples, professional references or letters of recommendation upon request.

Students engage in career exploration and development as well as learn new skills.   Interns will have the opportunity to attend virtual meetings, local think tank events, professional development workshops, and public Brookings events.  In addition, interns will have the opportunity to network with other interns throughout the Institution.   This internship is an opportunity for undergraduate students in their junior or senior year and graduate students with an interest in  international affairs and development to apply principles and theory learned in the classroom in a professional environment. Interns spend approximately 10 weeks remotely working alongside leading experts in government and academia from all over the world. Brookings also offers students the opportunity to intern in departments such as communications, human resources and central operations management. The mission of the Internship Program is to provide students with a pre-professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work experience related to their field of study or career interest.
