This summer internship, beginning in June 2019, is an opportunity for undergraduate students in their junior year or senior year, recent college graduates, or graduate students with an interest and experience in financial data management and analysis to apply principles and theory learned in the classroom in a professional environment.
This internship pays an hourly rate of $14.00, and applicants must be willing to commit to a minimum number of hours per week (no less than 20 hours per week, during regular business hours), with some flexibility around an academic course schedule. The internship will last approximately 9 weeks.
The Office of Financial Planning and Management (OFPM) is responsible for the integration and oversight of all of Brookings's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis, as well as interdisciplinary and strategic initiative tracking in support of its $90+ million business operation.
The intern will support the OFPM team in institution-wide financial data management and analysis. Specific projects will include building out Excel-based templates and financial tools; drafting reports, charts, and dashboards for the Institution; and process mapping.
Interns will also have the opportunity to attend internal meetings, local think tank events, professional development workshops, and public Brookings events as well as participate on Brookings sports teams and network with other interns throughout the Institution.
Qualified candidates should be in their junior year or senior year of college, recent college graduates, or graduate students. Experience or interest in finance is preferred but not required. The primary skill sought is Excel-based template/tool development and design. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Process mapping experience and skills are preferred.
Successful completion of a background investigation is required for interning at Brookings.
